About the Designer
Sergio Calatroni was born in Pavia in 1951. He lives and
works in Milan. He attended the Accademia di Belle Arti
of Brera in Milan, specializing in set design. Since 1975
he has worked in the field of architecture, industrial design,
interior design, graphics, corporate image, creative direction,
communications and journalism. He has worked as art
director of fashion shows and installations for: Luciano
Soprani, Gillette Italia, GFT, Carshoe, Trussardi, Mario
Buccellati, Hanae Mori, The Tokyo University, Tivioli, etc.
In 1999 Award Packaging Design Biennal in Japan.From
1996 to 1998 Sergio Calatroni was a visiting professor of
Museum Design at Tokyo University. He has also been a
professor of Architecture at the European Design Institute
in Milan. From 1998 to 2000 he was the art director of the
13 licency product of The National Trust, Japan. He has
conducted many conferences and lectures in Italy and abroad.
From 1996 to 1998 Sergio Calatroni was a visiting professor
of Museum Design at Tokyo University. He has also been a
professor of Architecture at the European Design Institute in
Milan. From 1998 to 2000 he was the art director of the 13
licency product of The National Trust, Japan. He has conducted
many conferences and lectures in Italy and abroad. Since 2000
he is the creative director of stephanemarais Shiseido, Paris.
Since 2001, he is working for the architectural project of Embassy
of Japan in Damascus. Syria. In 2003 he received the “Good
Design Award” and the “Category’s Award” of the Japanese
Ministry of Commerce for the Shiseido creative direction and
packaging and the prestigious “2003 London International
Advertising Awards (LIAA)”.
Since 2004, he is an art director of Shiki-Kobo, Japanese
company of traditional architecture.In 2005, he has organized
the “Global Souk / A-temporary” exhibition at the University
of Tokyo, University Museum, Koishikawa Annexe, and he
is organizing to move that exhibition in some other countries
like Italy, Brasil.
From 2002, he is working on the field of Web designing. He
has designed products for: Pallucco srl, Zeus, Barovier &
Toso, Pozzi & Figli, Vilca, Sisal, Metals, Alessi, Glass
Design, Nippon Alumi, Crassevig, Museo Alchimia, Memphis,
Gabbianelli.
